Hillsborough Fire Co. 2 (Station 37 Fire) is an all-volunteer organization located on the south side of Somerset County, NJ situated about halfway between New York City and Philadelphia in central NJ. We have a membership of approx 50 people including firefighters, affiliate members, junior firefighters and executive officers.
We respond to calls throughout Hillsborough Township and surrounding areas, averaging 700-800 calls per year. We respond to many different types of incidents including structure fires, motor vehicle accidents with serious injuries or entrapment, water/ice rescue, lost person searches and hazardous materials incidents.
As part of the Hillsborough Fire District, we respond with Flagtown Fire Company (Station 36), Woods Road Fire Company (Station 38) and Neshanic Fire Company (Station 48) to major incidents within the township outside of our primary response area. Our first-due area is a diverse makeup of residential, commercial, industrial and even some farm land – which gives our members a wide range of experience. We also work closely with neighboring fire departments from Manville, Raritan, Franklin Twp and Montgomery Twp to assist as needed.
We are available 24×7, 365 days a year, to assist the public in their time of need. We are one of the 41 fire departments that cover Somerset County. Daytimes from 6am-6pm our members are supplemented by a small compliment of paid firefighters and fire marshals employed by the Hillsborough Fire District. Our volunteers work hand-in-hand with the career firefighters to ensure that the public is protected.
