Hillsborough Twp Station 37 Fire

At 3:50pm today the Hillsborough Fire District was toned out to respond to an overturned motor vehicle in the water with entrapment on River Rd. Deputy Chief 37 established command. Subsequently an off duty Fire Marshal, X-Chief, PD officers and civilians entered the freezing water. Upon arrival additional firefighters entered the water and were able to locate the driver in the submerged vehicle. After cutting the seatbelt free members were able to remove the driver from the vehicle. Emergency personnel subsequently hoisted the driver up the steep ravine for EMS assessment and transport. Water rescue personnel remained in the water utilizing hydraulic tools to force doors searching the vehicle for additional occupants.

Multiple members that went into the water were treated by EMS for exposure issues. RWJB personnel were outstanding.

Such an outstanding effort. The thought of being in that cold, cold water... Positive thoughts for the driver. There are not sufficient words of admiration for all involved in the rescue. Heroes.
